OBservational storytelling
with purpose

Tatws Media is a North Wales based video production studio creating story led films for charities, heritage organisations and cultural projects.

I’m Kim Ritter-Peake, the filmmaker behind Tatws Media. My work is shaped by a simple belief: the most powerful stories are already there, waiting to be noticed.

Over the better part of the past decade, I’ve worked across documentary, commercial and wedding filmmaking projects, bringing a calm and observant approach to each project. I spend time listening, understanding, and allowing real stories to unfold.

This way of working is especially important when collaborating with communities, volunteers and individuals who aren't necessarily used to being in front of the camera. It creates space for honesty.

My background

Before moving into filmmaking, I spent over ten years working in the corporate world, including a range of roles with leadership responsibility, and I hold a degree in international business. That experience continues to shape how I run my business and approach my work today. I understand the importance of clear communication, accountability and delivering on time, while still protecting the creative process.

I combine creative vision with professional reliability, bringing both a strong sense of storytelling and a structured, dependable approach to every project. I care as much about how a film is delivered as the film itself, so organisations feel confident and supported from start to finish.

Approach to filmmaking

Every film is crafted to feel cinematic and human, while also communicating purpose and impact.

Tatws Media is designed to stay flexible. Many projects I film independently, keeping the process simple, unobtrusive and personal. For larger productions, I bring in a trusted team, scaling up where needed without losing that grounded approach.

I can deliver projects in both English and Welsh, helping organisations connect with their audiences in a way that feels natural and considered.

At its core, my work is about paying attention and creating impactful films that stay with people, long after they’ve watched them.

CLIENT FEEDBACK

'The "Craft of Wellbeing" project at Ruthin Craft Centre explored the therapeutic benefits of craft activities within a creative setting. This initiative supported young and adult carers, offering a chance to connect socially, develop skills, and enjoy a respite from caregiving duties. Collaborating with NEWCIS and CREDU/WCD, the project provided community and some 'me time' for those dedicated to caring for others.

Filmmaker Kim Ritter was commissioned to capture the project's essence. Her artistic and unobtrusive approach documented the participants' creative journey naturally. Her work highlighted influential moments and conveyed a truthful portrayal of the project's impact.

Her ability to document the process with sensitivity and respect has provided an invaluable record of the project's influence on participants. The Ruthin Craft Centre is grateful for her contribution and highly recommends her work to others.'
